Old San Juan Bar Crawl.
A three-hour guided crawl through Calle San Sebastián and Old San Juan's best local hotspots — drinks at each stop, the histories of each spot, and a guide who knows the bartenders.
The Activity
San Sebastián, in three hours.
Calle San Sebastián is the bar street of Old San Juan — a few cobblestone blocks of small spots that have been pouring for decades. The annual festival in January is famous, but the street is alive year-round. This crawl strings together four or five of the best places, with a drink at each, a guide explaining the history along the way.
You'll do a classic Puerto Rican mojito at one spot, a craft cocktail at another, and a pour of something local at the third. It's structured so you actually taste each one (small pours), not just shotgun your way through.
Why people love it
Because choosing your own bar in Old San Juan is a coin flip — some are tourist traps, some are gold. The guide skips the traps. And going with a group adds the social part: you'll be the loudest table by the third stop.
Why we love it
It's the booking we make for groups celebrating something — birthdays, reunions, the night before a wedding. The guides are good at reading the room and pacing the night. By the last stop the group is its own thing and the guide steps back.
Also: you walk it. The cobblestones, the lights, the breeze coming up from the bay between buildings — Old San Juan at night is one of the best evenings in the Caribbean and this is the right way to spend it.
Pro tips
- Eat before. A solid Puerto Rican dinner before the crawl is the difference between a great night and a regret.
- Cash for tips at each bar. Bartenders here remember good tippers.
- Comfortable shoes — cobblestones are unforgiving.
- Don't drive home. Uber is reliable from Old San Juan even at 1am.
- Skip the early slot in summer — the heat in OSJ at 7pm is rough; later is better.
- If you can, do this on a weeknight — fewer crowds, more attention from the bartenders.
- Tip your guide. They're the reason you got into the good spots.
