Snorkel with Sea Turtles.
Ninety minutes of clear water just off Escambrón Beach — reef fish, sea turtles, and videos taken for you so you can stop worrying about the camera.
The Activity
The easiest snorkel day on the island.
You don't have to drive to the west coast for good water. Escambrón Beach, right at the edge of Old San Juan, has one of the most reliable snorkel spots in the metro — a protected cove with reef fish, sea turtles, and the occasional eagle ray. This tour gives you a guide, the gear, and someone to take photos and videos so you're not white-knuckling your phone.
It's the lowest-friction water activity in this guide — pickup, swim, drop-off, and you're back at the house by lunch.
Why people love it
Because most "snorkel tours" in the Caribbean involve a long boat ride. This one doesn't. You walk in from the beach, you're in the reef in five minutes, and the turtles really are reliable — locals see them most days.
Why I love it
It's the activity I send people on when they have one half-day open and want it in the water. The visibility at Escambrón is genuinely great, the guides know which rocks the turtles park behind, and the included videos mean nobody has to be the designated phone-holder.
Bonus: it pairs perfectly with an afternoon at Numero Uno or Vivo. Snorkel, shower, beach club. Day made.
Pro tips
- Reef-safe sunscreen ONLY. The cove is a protected area.
- Don't touch the turtles. The guides will say it; just plan on it.
- Light meal beforehand. You'll be in the water about an hour.
- If you wear glasses, the operator can lend prescription masks — ask at booking.
- Morning slot for the best visibility.
- Tip your guide and your videographer. Two different jobs, both essential.
The logistics
- Duration: about 1.5 hours
